Fit and Unfiltered with Alyssa Vance

Uncategorized Jun 07, 2020

Join Chase Chewning (Operation Podcast) and Alyssa Vance as they chat about her experience in starting her podcast, Fit and Unfiltered. Alyssa is an online coach in the health and fitness space who recently discovered the potential of podcasting. She shares why she considered podcasting in the first place and the benefits she found along the way. Stay tuned, and enjoy!

Why Podcasting?

The initial draw of podcasting for Alyssa was that Instagram kept cutting her off after a minute of talking. Because she already got a good response from her videos in general and felt like she had so much more to say, Alyssa entered the world of podcasting. Her podcast allowed her to provide more value on top of her other social media posts by educating them in long-form content. Podcasts are designed for people to pay attention to for an extended period of time, while posts on Facebook or Instagram stories are mostly for fast-paced entertainment.

Creating a show for her superfans to listen to allowed her to build more trust as a coach, and share her story without overwhelming others who don’t want to hear it. She also found her podcast helpful for those on the fence whether or not they want to work with her! Even with just a few episodes in, she already took notice of another great benefit of podcasting.

Building a Network of Connections Through Podcasting

For those who struggle with creating a good network in their field, it might be helpful to know that podcasting made it really easy for Alyssa to build connections. As she continued making more podcasts, she noticed that other podcasters started to take notice of her and ask her to be on their shows. This form of networking allowed her to get to know other coaches that could provide the level of value she wants for her audience. Having deep conversations with like-minded people (which is another benefit of podcasting) allows you to develop relationships of better quality than connections made on Facebook or Instagram. A while back, we would ask people for coffee to pick their brain, which is a little one-sided. Nowadays, we could just invite them to our podcast, talk about any topic, give them a platform, provide exposure for them, and value to your listeners!
